Franklin Harvest Moon Festival will be held October 27, 2012

The 13th Annual Harvest Moon Festival is fast approaching and we a lot of things planned to make this year’s festival even better.
We start off our activities with the Queen and King Pageant to be held October 14th at the Teche Theatre. Applications are available at Main St. Café and Fad News Stand or call Susan Thibodeaux at 337-578-7854.
On Saturday, October 20th, the Franklin Merchant’s Association will be hosting a Golf Scramble at Belleview Golf Course to benefit the St. Mary Parish Council on Aging’s “Meals on Wheels” program. Come out and support this worthy cause. Entrance forms are available at Belleview Golf Course or call 337-828-2572.
The Festival well be held on October 27th in downtown Franklin. The 12th Annual Adeline Guienze Breast Cancer Memorial Fund 5k run/walk sponsored by Teche Community Action will be held starting at 8:00 a.m. For more information please contact Teche Action Clinic at 337-828-2550.
The Harvest Moon Festival kicks off with opening ceremonies at 9:00 a.m. on Main Street. Besides the annual open car show and chili cookoff, this year promises to be even more entertaining with a band line up of Steven Breaux and Friends at 9:30 a.m., T.K. Hulin and Smoke at 12:15 p.m., followed by Leon Chavis and the Zydeco Flames at 3:30 p.m. and ending with Sideshow at 6:30 p.m.
The open car show will feature cars from every make and model with announcement of the winners at 2:30 p.m. This year the top 25 will be featured along with the best make of vehicle including lawn tractors and golf carts. The 3rd annual Chili CookOff promises to heat up your palate as competitors vie for cash prizes and bragging rights for the best chili in town. Entry forms can be found at Main St. Café and Fad News Stand or call 337-828-3706 or 337-578-1505.
